Traffic Quotas on UTORcwn
The radio space and the bandwidth provided by the Campus wireless network is a limited resource. The University is committed to increasing bandwidth as the technology and funds are available, however wireless access will always have less capacity than the wired network. To provide more equitable access for all users in the community, it has been decided to have a 2 Gigabytes/week limit for most users.
There may be a requirement for the limit to be eased in specific cases. This will only be done for academic purposes. Requests for easing should be made via departmental academic administrators to UTC/CNS.
When the quota for the week is exceeded, the user will not have access for the rest of the week. This includes docking ports.
Technical Notes:
- The traffic per week is reset at 6:30 am every Monday.
- The exact quota is 2,000,000 * 1024.
- Traffic in both directions is counted. The total includes all traffic to and from the Wireless and the U of T Network, as well as, the Internet.
- Docking ports traffic will not be included in the quota calculation.
